Enshunada Sea, Japan
The Enshunada Sea tsunami occurred on September 20th, 1498 in Japan. This tsunami was caused by an earthquake with the magnitude of 8.3. The tsunami waves hit the coasts of Kii, Mikawa, Surugu and Sagami. Due to this tsunami, homes flooded and were swept away with the waves, and at least 31,000 people were killed.
Lisbon, Portugal
The tsunami of Lisbon, Portugal occurred on November 1st, 1755. This tsunami was caused by a magnitude 8.5 earthquake and came in a series of three huge waves. These waves hit various towns along the west coast of Portugal and southern Spain. In some places, the waves reached a massive height of 30 metres.
This tsunami was quite tragic and affected as far as Carlisle Bay, Barbados and killed 60,000 people across Portugal, Morocco and Spain.
